Our post was created in April of 1998. We are a fairly new post compared to others in the area, but I assure you we do not lack in any areas. Our post has grown not only in number of attendance and enrollment, but also in learning new skills in the field of fire rescue. Our primary goal at the post never changes, it is "To further knowledge and understanding through training, to provide an insight into all phases of the fire and EMS service as a possible profession, and to create a better understanding between the fire department and youth of the community." Our secondary goal is ever changing. We have always achieved our secondary goals, our original goal was to raise enough money to purchase handheld radios for our post. After that was achieved our secondary goal was to raise enough money to go to Gatlinburg, TN, where a national Explorer competition was being held. That too was met, now our secondary goal is to purchase and then modify a John Deere Gator, which is 6 wheel, gas driven vehicle. After some slight modifications, which include painting it red, adding lights and sirens, rollbar, medical bed, O2, and more, the vehicle would be used to transport patients in crowded situations that an ambulance could not get through (eg.. parade, festival, art shows). Pictures of the John Deere gator are shown on the bottom of our photo page. if you would like to help us achieve this or would like more information on it please feel free to email us. |
